 | Princess Howell Johnson Founding Director
Princess Howell Johnson is a native of Greensboro, NC. Her passion for dance started at a very early age, but she became very serious about pursuing a career in the dance field during her high school years when she was a part of the Dudley Modern Dance Company at James B. Dudley High School under the instruction of Amma Waddell. Princess attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and graduated with honors with a B. A. in Dance Studies with a concentration in Studio Teaching and a B. S. in Business and Economics with a concentration on Small Business Management / Entrepreneurship. During her time at UNCG, she was the treasurer, captain, and choreographer for Ebony in Motion, a student-run production and dance organization in which she choreographed over 15 new works. Her dance technique includes ballet, contemporary, lyrical, liturgical, jazz, and hip-hop. After her graduation from UNCG, Princess received a grant from the NC Arts Council for an Arts Management Internship with Cabarrus Arts Council under the direction of Noelle Scott. Immediately afterwards, she was a Management Intern for Richmond Ballet under the direction of Keith Martin and Susan Coogan. |
Returning to the Triad in 2008, Princess taught Ballet, Jazz, and Hip Hop at Triple Threat DanCenter in Winston-Salem and High Point for three years. In April 2009, Princess manifested her dream by founding Royal Expressions Contemporary Ballet. Princess maintains the artistic vision and management of the dance company. In addition, Princess volunteers as her church's dance ministry leader and she writes for Examiner.com as the Greensboro Dance Examiner. |
