Our Primary Dance Program is for ages 5 – 7.  What a special age for your child as they begin to learn their ABCs, 123s, and so much more!  Dance is a great after school activity to enhance their learning journey.  Our classes become more structured, but still imaginative to give your child balance. (pun intended 🙂 At this age we focus on developing the joy of dance and challenging them with complex, yet age appropriate movement.  The classes offered are: Ballet, Tap, and Jazz.  Pick 1, 2, or all 3!  Learn more about these styles below then schedule your visit!

Ballet is a foundational dance style that all dancers are encouraged to take, especially if you are considering a professional dance career.  It has European origins and an extensive vocabulary of specific positions of the feet, arms, body, and head.  It is a very precise, athletic, yet delicate dance form that takes much work and concentration.  It is great for developing discipline, concentration, and patience.

Jazz is a very expressive dance style that developed with the rise of Jazz music.  It is a form of modern dance with some set positions and vocabulary.  It is very sassy, fun, and usually fast-paced.  This is a great cardio class.  It is also good for uplifting the spirit and energizing the body.  This class is recommended for outgoing people who like to have fun and really show their personality.  It is the prerequisite for Hip Hop.  Once your child turns 11 they can start taking Hip Hop classes at our school.

Tap is an extension of jazz and adds percussive sounds to accent the expressive dance form.  It uses a lot of quick foot work built on specific vocabulary.  This class is recommended for any and everyone.  It is a great cardio activity.  It compliments ballet very well because of the emphasis on rhythm and footwork.
